Are dog parks a great place to exercise your dog off-lead, or are they trouble waiting to happen?
Some owners who regularly take their dogs to dog parks say they’re great place for socialisation, allowing one’s dog to meet and interact with dogs of all breeds and sizes, as well as much-needed off-lead exercise.
Others, however, are not keen at all. The transmission of disease through faeces in a relatively confine space is too risky to be worth it, some argue. Plus, having dogs who are unfamiliar with each other share the space while off lead can lead to unexpected behaviour and even aggression – you never know what dogs and owners you may share the dog park with. A bit of off-lead exercise at the dog park can end very, very badly.
What do you think – are dog parks a recipe for disaster?
