Roses are red, violets are blue, and the Goddess of Love is looking for you.

Meet Venus, Battersea’s loneliest dog who, despite her name, has struggled to find her true love at the South London centre for over 150 days. To help Venus find her perfect match, the charity has decided to play cupid by sending the Goddess of Love on several romantic dates.

The four-year-old was treated to a delicious picnic where she enjoyed all of her favourite treats, taken on a picturesque afternoon stroll in Battersea Park, listened to romantic love poems and enjoyed a cosy sofa viewing of Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs.

The beautiful black Greyhound, who arrived at Battersea from another rescue, is seeking her perfect match, ideally with a secure garden to spend the summer evenings relaxing with. The ex-racer is a lover of tennis and will make a faultless fit for any Wimbledon fan.

Ali Taylor, Battersea’s Head of Canine Behaviour, said, “Poor Venus has been unlucky in love for over 150 days here at Battersea. People tend to think that Greyhounds need more exercise than the average dog, however this is not the case. Venus has shown herself to be a real couch potato and loves nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa.”

If Venus is not the one, you could consider one of the other lonely hearts in Battersea’s care…
