‘Vampire bat dog’ homes in on new family

Marley the 'vampire bat dog'

A rescue dog with a striking and spooky resemblance to a vampire bat has found his new home – and just in time for Halloween!

Marley, a 10-year-old terrier-cross, has an array of strange bat-like features, from a dark brindle coat and pointy ears, to orb-like eyes and fantastic fangs. He stayed at Dogs Trust’s Glasgow centre for six months, before finding new owners with his elderly best friend, Murphy, aged 15. The devoted duo arrived in rescue together, and Dogs Trust staff are delighted they will now live out their retirement as a happy pair too.

Claire Cairney, assistant manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, said, “We are amazed by how much Marley’s teeth resemble a vampire bat’s fangs – they have certainly become a topic of conversation with staff and visitors!

“Marley and Murphy are a gorgeous pair with amazing characters and we couldn’t be happier they have found their forever home. Marley has such unique features that staff were worried he may become overlooked but thankfully that hasn’t been the case.

“What makes it spooky is he has found a home so close to Halloween.”
