Going for gold: Competitive canines seek new homes🏅

As the Olympic Games kicks off in Rio for a fantastic summer of sport, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has put its best canine athletes to the test, with winners in every category. But never mind about the medals – could any of them win your heart?

Beau, high jump

This Springer Spaniel cross is mad for jumping about, with a winning wag to boot. He needs an enthusiatic owner who can keep up with him. Beau won’t turn down a spot of tennis either – a true all-round athlete!

Hero, weightlifting

Hero is a seven-year-old cross between a Pug and a Beagle – or Puggle! He likes the quiet life, and to train with his toys without distraction. A more rural home with a relaxed family would be ideal, although having been waiting at the kennels for over 160 days, this is proving hard to come by.

Tia, swimming

Tia’s gigantic paws will empty a paddling pool in no time, so she needs someone willing to pick up the hose! This Dogue de Bordeaux is a real sweetheart though, and deserves her own garden to splash about in this summer – could it be yours?

Ria, hurdles

A working collie to her core, Ria has a few real hurdles to make it over before she’s ready for her forever home, but she’s the ultimate package of intelligence and energy. She just needs the right coach!

Taz, longjump

Taz is all legs, giving him an unbeatable advantage on the sand. This lithe Lurcher is more than ready for the next step – a home where he can become a champion cuddler too.

If you can offer any of these deserving dogs a home and give them a spot on the sofa for Games, please contact Battersea on 0843 509 4444 or visit battersea.org.uk.
