Samoa had been badly abused when she was found on the streets in Portugal; she had a fractured hip and broken ribs.
Thankfully she found salvation at Hostel Dogs and Cats in Torres Vedras, after being picked up by a kind stranger.
It was here that her story and image were both posted on Facebook – and she was talent spotted!
Samoa was adopted by Paula Ribeiro and her partner Ruben, a pair of photographers and serial pet rescuers.
Samoa soon proved to be a natural in front of the camera. Paula uses her stunning images to promote dog rescue and fight breed stereotypes – Samoa is a proud Pit Bull mix.
Paula has written Samoa’s incredible story in full in our new July issue, as Samoa is the latest recipient of our Good Dog Award. Order it here!
