Style to rescue

An award-winning dog groomer from pet care company has helped to raise over £7,000 for rescue dogs across the country, in an event that showed off four-legged friends in their very best light.

The dog grooming competition, called ‘Vita Canis Style to Rescue’, took place recently to give the rescue dogs some much-needed TLC and at the same time provide groomers with the chance to demonstrate their expert skills.

Held at Stoneleigh Park, the event attracted groomers from all corners of the country, with more than 50 attending and over 55 dogs. From mongrels and cross breeds to pedigree dogs who go unwanted, this second-year dog event was bigger and better with pet companies also showing their support by holding a stand at the event.

Organiser of the event Jitka Krizova, from Vita Canis, says, “This charity dog grooming competition for rescue dogs is not just about raising money to donate to the rescue centres – it’s also about giving hope to the dogs and hopefully finding them new loving homes, it’s about spoiling the rescues who don’t have their forever homes yet, it’s for new groomers looking for some experience in competing and finally, it’s about education and awareness, and a community coming together seeing old friends and meeting new ones.”

The Funds will be split between Paws UK, Many Tears Animal Rescue, Hessa’s Homeless Hounds; Petwelfare Stafford, Poodles from Portugal and STECS – Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme.
