A gentle rescue dog who survived starvation and a lifetime of being used for breeding is desperately searching for a home before undergoing major surgery.

Tally was dangerously underweight when she was rescued from a filthy drug den, where she had been left to starve after being repeatedly bred from and moved from home to home.

She was suffering from mange and infections, with swollen eyes, painful back legs and barely any fur covering her emaciated body.

But following months of care from One Wish Dog Foundation, the affectionate dog has undergone a remarkable transformation.

Tally is now a striking black-and-white dog with warm brown eyes, floppy ears and a broad white blaze running down her face. Despite everything she has endured, rescuers say she remains extraordinarily trusting of people.

Tally is looking for love after suffering a lifetime of neglect

One Wish Dog Foundation, which recently received a Pet Rescue Grant from animal welfare charity Naturewatch Foundation, is now seeking a foster-to-adopt home where Tally can finally feel safe and settled.

Tally is due to undergo cruciate surgery at the end of September and will require a calm and stable environment in which she can rest and gradually regain her strength.

Jenna Jones, from One Wish Dog Foundation, said: “She is gentle, affectionate and incredibly trusting. She looks to her humans for safety and comfort, and watching her transformation since coming into our care has been nothing short of amazing.”

Her carers hope she can complete her recovery with a foster family before officially becoming a permanent part of their home.
Tally can live alongside other calm dogs and dog-savvy children aged over five.

However, because of her size, she cannot be rehomed with cats or other small animals.

Her future family must also live within driving distance of her veterinary practice in Didcot and be prepared to support her throughout her post-operative recovery.
