Prince finds his castle - after 330 days in kennels

One of The Mayhew Animal Home’s longest-staying dogs has finally found a new family, after spending almost 11 heartbreaking months searching for one. Prince, a beautiful four-year-old American Akita, inevitably made a huge impression on The Mayhew's staff and volunteers throughout his long time with them - even becoming the subject of his very own painting!

During the charity's annual 'Tinsel and Tails' festive event in December last year, artist Claire Thorogood painted a bespoke portrait of Prince. The canvas will now be auctioned to raise vital funds, and will be live on eBay until 11 February 2017 - unless someone snaps it up as a 'Buy It Now!'

The Mayhew’s Kennels Assistant Josh Keegan said, “Everyone at The Mayhew absolutely loves Prince – he is such an affectionate boy, who absolutely loves cuddles, back rubs and strokes. It will be sad not to see him every day, but I’m over the moon that he’s found a perfect new home that he truly deserves.

“We understand that not everyone was in the position to give him a new home, but if you are one of his many admirers, this is a great opportunity to have him in your home in spirit with this lovely portrait.

“Please bid on his painting. The money raised will help towards the cost of us helping more animals like Prince find new forever homes.”
