Glossy Afghan Hound becomes internet sensation

Thanks to her unbelievably smooth and silky coat, an Afghan Hound called Tea has gone viral. The striking dog from Sydney, Australia, found international fame when her owner Luke Kavanagh posted this picture (above) of her draped over a bench on Facebook a few months ago.

The fabulous image landed the dog a modelling career after her success in the show ring; Tea has since been appeared in advertising campaigns for a grooming company and a luxury dog food brand.

“We always thought that she was far too pretty to keep at home,” Mr Kavanagh told the Australian Daily Telegraph.

“Even our weekend walks draw a crowd. She pretends she doesn’t need the attention, but she definitely loves it, just like any supermodel.”

Tea is now enjoying retirement - and an easier to maintain haircut - but she's still a loved family member.

Mr Kavanagh wrote on Facebook, "I have such a special bond with Tea and we have shared a lifetime of wonderful moments together. On show day she exemplifies Afghan Hound, she is dignified, aloof and most certainly displays a keen fierceness. At home she is such a character & really loving her retirement..."
