Whenever German flight attendant Olivia Sievers flew to Buenos Aires, a friendly street stray was waiting to welcome her back. The dog took a shine to Olivia after she had fed him, and he quickly latched on to her, following her around town and anticipating her next visit.
"I tried to change my way because I didn't want that he follow me back to the hotel," Olivia told Noticiero Trece. "But it was not possible. He always came back and followed me. I tried one hour, but he always watched me and followed me. He was really happy that somebody gave him attention."
Olivia named the dog Rubio, and spent time with him whenever she was in town. Rubio would wait hopefully at her hotel, spending his nights wrapped in an airline blanket to keep him warm. But Olivia, knowing this was no life for a dog, had Rubio adopted to a local family - only for Rubio to escape and return to his vigil. The path was clear. Rubio had to come home to Germany.
After a mountain of paperwork and a long flight to Frankfurt, Rubio now lives happily with Olivia and her other dogs.
