When eight-month-old Yorkshire Terrier Trixie was handed over to Dogs Trust, her hair was so matted staff couldn't even tell if she had a tail!
Trixie's first stop at Dogs Trust Manchester was the on-site groomers. When staff started to remove the fur they could see that it was completely suck to her legs, preventing the poor pooch from even wagging her tail. Her eyesight was also impaired due to a huge lump of matted hair above her left eye.
At just 2.1kg, an incredible 0.2kg of hair was removed by Canine Carers at the Denton Rehoming Centre, and now she's not only lighter, but her tail doesn't stop wagging.
Dawn Bishop, Rehoming Centre Manager, says, "Her severely matted coat meant she couldn’t go to the toilet properly and was also having trouble seeing. It was terrible but as soon as we had removed the matted fur, she had a good shake and it seems to have transformed her personality as well as her looks! She is a gorgeous, lively little thing who loves a cuddle too. She has made lots of doggie friends and now she just needs to have the opportunity to build her confidence. We are looking forward to finding her a wonderful family who she can happily spend the rest of her life with."
Trixie can live with children over the age of eleven. If you think you could give Trixie the home she deserves, please call 0300 303 0292 or visit Dogs Trust Manchester.
